Our Story:

My name is Susan Shallo and I am the founder of Croptopia Getaways. I have been an avid album maker for more than 10 years. I have always had an entrepreneurial spirit and a passion for event planning. As a scrapbook consultant for several years, I realized how difficult it was for people to find the time to work on albums. The opportunities in our area for scrappers to get together consisted only of workshops and classes held at local consultants homes, or at one of the few scrapbook stores in the area. After traveling long distances to attend several overnight retreats, I was disappointed in the space provided, the prize selections and the overall feeling of the event. I knew I wanted to create a fun, personalized, affordable and productive event all close to home! I saw the demand for local retreats and decided to take my passion for event planning one step further. I held my first event with 105 scrappers in November, 2003 and the business has been growing ever since.

When I'm not busy planning overnight getaways, I reside in Charleston, South Carolina with my husband Jerry and daughters Emily, Julia and Makenzie.
